The rigorous academic programme within Needham Market Academy is equivalent to 3 A-Levels compared to other providers who offer a smaller, less recognised qualification. The qualifications cover a wide spectrum of units and are sports generic to provide an insight into key areas of the sports industry including sports development, performance analysis, nutrition and coaching.
Students will partake in various forms of assessments including exams, observation and written assignments. Students will have to complete work experience as part of their Level 3 Extended Diploma, providing them first-hand experience within the sports sector aiding their knowledge and future progression within the sports industry.
All of the education provision is in conjunction with SCL Education providing an established curriculum for students to achieve their academic goals. No tuition fees for students aged 16-18.
NCFE level 3
Extended Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity
The NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) is intended for learners aged 16 and over and provides the knowledge, skills and understanding required within the sport and physical activity sector. It will also allow learners to gain transferable skills and progress to employment, an apprenticeship, or higher education in a sport-related or different sector in line with career aspirations.
The NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) is designed as a 2-year, full-time programme and will provide the following UCAS points:
P – 48, M – 96, D – 144, D* – 168
Entry Requirements
We recommend you have five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, one being in English or Maths, to be best suited for this BTEC is a leading provider of educational programme. You may also hold a relevant Level 2 qualification, plus an ability to services and this programme allows you to operate at Level 2 in either English or develop your sporting skill whilst broadening Maths.
NCFE level 2
Diploma in Sport
The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) is intended for learners aged 16 and over and provides the introductory skills to either
start a career in sport or develop knowledge and skills that can be transferred to other industries. This qualification can also prepare learners for apprenticeships or further study.
The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching) is designed as a 1-year, full time course and will provide foundations to progress onto the NCFE L3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity.
Entry Requirements
We recommend you have four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, one being in English or Maths, to be best suited for this programme. You may also hold a relevant Level 1 qualification, plus an ability to operate at Level 1 in either English or Maths.
NCFE LEVEL 3
Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training
Intended for learners aged 16 and over and focuses on the role and scope of a Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer. The qualification is mapped to the CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the
Management of Sport and Physical Activity) Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer professional standards.
NCFE Level 3
National Extended Diploma in Business
This is an Applied General
qualification. The qualification aims to provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector. It is designed for learners studying full-time who wish to pursue a career in business, primarily via higher education to access graduate entry
employment with businesses, or through higher and degree-level apprenticeships.
