Kicking off the season with academy deals for youth players

Ahead of the new season, Needham Market would like to congratulate the following players who have signed academy deals for the upcoming season.

Fabian Claxton has signed a two-year deal at Peterborough Academy. Fabian has been Needham Market’s U15 captain for the last two years at Needham Market.

Former U15’s Manager, Gary Pratt said: “Fabian is a player with a fantastic attitude towards the game and his drive, determination, and ability has been a big positive on the team.”

Needham Market’s U15 Jamie Mauge has signed for Ipswich Town Academy. In Jamie's one year at the club, Gary Pratt said: “Jamie has been a joy to coach, he has great ability and has a fantastic attitude to learn.”

He continued: “We’re delighted that our players are progressing into academy football at professional clubs and we wish Fabian and Jamie all the best for their future and development.”

Ewan Gordon-Clement has also been successful after his trial at Colchester United and has since been successful into academy football. Needham’s U16 Manager Jason Curtis said: “Ewan has a particular skill set and since joining us he has played in a specific area of the pitch to really concentrate on these qualities.”

“Ewan joins a growing list of players that have developed within our squad which shows the hard work that goes on behind the scenes allowing players to progress by playing regular high-level opposition. Previously Alfie Pinyoun (Norwich City), Kaya Donohoe (Ipswich Town) and Dylan Grove (Peterborough United) all moved on after successful trials at respective academies.”

Robert Peace, Needham Market FC’s Academy Director said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the players, I am delighted they have achieved this opportunity. It is important they continue their development to provide them the best opportunity to become professional players in the future. The environment we provide within Needham Market FC enhances players' development and helps provide them with a platform to best reach their potential.”
