Congratulations to academy graduate, Toby Barrowcliffe who recently graduated with a Merit in MSci Performance Analysis for Football at the University of Suffolk.
The four-year course consisted of a range of different sport and exercise science modules in the first two years before predominantly focusing on analysis in the third year and final master’s year.
Toby Barrowcliffe said: “I am extremely proud of my achievements as the thought of having a degree five or six years ago never crossed my mind.”
“When leaving high school, I didn’t have a specific goal, I just wanted to play football. After deciding to attend Needham Market Academy I began to realise I needed to focus on a career path besides the dream of becoming a professional footballer.”
However, the academy isn’t just about making ‘pro footballers’. Without attending the academy, the opportunities provided, and the support of all of the staff, I don’t think I would have an MSc degree today and I’d like to thank the academy for all their help.”
Needham Market Academy is passionate about providing students with a variety of exceptional pathways to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to progress onto a university course or into employment.
Robert Peace, Needham Market Academy Director says: "This is a fantastic achievement for Toby and is the reward of the hard work he has put into his studies over the last few years to have achieved a Masters.”
“Within Needham Market Academy we applaud graduates' achievements both on and off the pitch and celebrate their achievements. Toby is a great news story for the academy, and he evidences the pathway into higher education which a large number of our students progress onto. Toby was in the first year group with our partnership with the University of Suffolk and it brings me great pride to see that students have been able to benefit and better themselves through our link with the University."
